APN will launch this fresh, new masthead for the New Zealand Herald and its multi-media platforms to support the launch on September 10 of the Monday-to-Friday compact newspaper.
The compact launch is supported by a major redesign of its award-winning website, nzherald.co.nz, and the launch of a new social reader for Facebook which will improve integrated news delivery across all platforms.
“The new masthead was selected from more than a dozen potential designs and tested with readers who described it as bold, stylish and striking,” said Herald editor Shayne Currie.
“The new look incorporates our existing gothic masthead, acknowledging our 150-year heritage, while positioning the Herald as a modern, multi-media brand.”
The new compact format of the weekday Herald will allow APN to improve the way it integrates and delivers weekday news and information across both the print edition of the newspaper and digitally on nzherald.co.nz – via the web, tablet and smartphone.
“We are committed to the ongoing delivery of quality journalism and the new format allows us to explore innovative ways of delivering New Zealanders the news and information they require.
“We look forward to revealing the new-look weekday Herald with its new masthead in September and marking another important milestone in the New Zealand Herald’s 150-year history,” said Currie.
The Weekend Herald and Herald on Sunday mastheads and formats remain unchanged.
